Maribel Mary DeGrote of Bloomingburg, NY, died on August 16, 2024, at Westchester Medical Center. She was sixteen days old. The daughter of Ciara Melendez Vargas and Owen DeGrote, she was born on July 31, 2024, in Valhalla, NY. 

She is survived by her parents, Owen and Ciara, of Bloomingburg, NY; Grandparents Melissa DeGrote of Monticello and Rodney and Rebecca DeGrote of Cochecton; Great-grandparents Caroline Fisher and Rodney DeGrote Sr.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Maribel Vargas, and Great-grandparents Howard Fisher and Betty DeGrote.



Although she was here just a short time, the impact she left will last a lifetime. Maribel was a fighter from the time she entered this world until it was time for her to go. We will miss her tremendously. Until we meet again, in our hearts is where we will keep you. Sleep in peace, our strong, sassy girl.
