November 1, 1945 — January 28, 2024

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Joseph Delerario, a beloved member of the community in Chester, New York, passed away on January 28, 2024, at the Highland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Middletown, N.Y.

 At the age of 78, Joseph had lived a long and whole life.

Joseph was the son of the late Michael and Mary Delerario and was born in the Bronx on November 1, 1945. 

He was a cherished family member and will be deeply missed by his wife, Gail Johnson Delerario, who was always by his side. His children Elizabeth Peterson of Franklin, N.J., James Peterson (Erin) of Goshen, N.Y., and Amanda Peterson of New Windsor, and his four grandchildren, Emilia, Aiden, Alessia, and Liam, also survived him.

The family has decided to hold private services for Joseph, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. 

Joseph was a Chester Kiwanis Club member and a retired Orange County Sheriff's Department member.

He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Cremation care will be under the immediate supervision and direction of Brendan and Thomas Flynn and will take place at the Oxford Hills Crematory in Chester, N.Y. 

The kind and compassionate staff at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Center, located at 3 Hudson Street, Chester, NY 10918, will provide funeral services to the family during this challenging time.
