Carmen Torres, a 20-year resident of Monroe, New York, died peacefully on December 9, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York, at 84 years old.
The daughter of the late Alfredo Santos and Francisca Torres, she was born on December 14, 1940, in Santurce, Puerto Rico.
Anyone who met Carmen could see she was a strong and compassionate woman. She loved to give to those in need and help those less fortunate. Carmen dedicated her life to her family. She was patient and kind, and she will surely be missed by those who loved her.
Carmen is survived by her husband, Rafael Torres of Monroe, NY; her children, Rafael Torres Jr. of Florida, Iris Vales of Georgia, Evelyn Torres of New York, Efrain Torres of New York, and Manuel Torres of New Jersey. She is also survived by Rafael Torres III of Florida, Jessie Vales, Talisa Carter, Jazmin Parks, Aixa Vales, Chelsea Parks, Gabriel Torres, Jaxtyn Torres, and Sofia Torres, as well as her great-grandchild David Anthony Hernandez.
Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her as she is one of 13 children, nine brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, 139 Stage Road, Monroe, New York 10950.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 10:00 am Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe, New York 10950.
Cremation will follow at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., Chester, NY.
The family has entrusted the cremation care and funeral services to the Flynn family and Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Center staff.
