Zina Whitney of Middletown, N.Y., formerly of Monticello, New York, died peacefully on November 24, 2024, at Middletown Park Manor Health Care Facility at 97 years old. She was a 35-year resident of Sullivan County.
Zina was born in Lawrence, MA, on August 18, 1927, to the late Stanley and Zina Grotsky. She was the widow of Michael Whitney.
Zina was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She showed unconditional love to her children, Jill and Alan. She was always there to lend a helping hand,d and her life revolved around them. She was an adored grandmother who doted on her grandchildren and was a huge part of their lives. She would do anything for her family. She also loved and shared close relationships with her niece, Linda, and nephews, Todd, Rick, and Lance.
Leading up to her last day at 97 years old, she was a true survivor and would always say- "I just want to live a little bit longer." She will be greatly missed by her family.
Zina is survived by her daughter, Jill Camastro, and her husband William; her son Alan Whitney; her grandchildren, Danielle Keener and Husband Kevin; Justine Camastro; Noelle Burley and husband Sean; Cristal Cherubini and husband Kyle; Ciara Zebrowski and husband Frank and William H. Camastro III; and her great-grandchildren Braden, Grayson, Ava, Jackson, and Whitney(to be). She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Linda, Todd, Rick, and Lance.
Zina was predeceased by her husband, Michael Whitney, and her brother, Paul Grotsky.
Her family will be planning a Life Celebration, and once all details are confirmed, we will update our website with the date and time of the Celebration.
Brendan and Thomas Flynn will provide cremation care at Oxford Hills Crematory, Inc., Chester, N.Y.

The Flynn Family and the staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers staff will care for the planning and services of the life celebration.
