Warwick, NY

Tsuyoshi Takemori, a resident of Warwick, NY, passed away at home on September 24, 2025, at the age of 74.

Goodbye from Papa. He loved Santana, golfing, photography (with mixed results), calligraphy, books, sports, and animals. He was a well-loved man by family, friends, golfers, and students. He wrote the note below (he was a literature major) after deciding to decline further treatment for cancer, which overtook all of our lives, a year ago in August. Thank you to his team at Columbia Presbyterian, who did everything to give us this past year with him, and to our hospice care team, who helped Mommy care for him, and pass with dignity.

Travel by Tsuyoshi Takemori -Translated from Japanese

It looks like l'm heading out on another journey.

I'll unfold my heavenly wrapping cloth, include New York State, Ishigaki Island, the United States, Taiwan, and Japan, shrink its mass to one in the millions, hang it on a long bamboo pole, and set off.

How about Mars? If it's unsuitable, I'll find a blue planet in another meteor shower. If it's suitable and comfortable to live on, I'll settle down. I wonder what will happen after that? If it's comfortable, I'll stay. If not, I'll fly off to another great meteor shower. I'm sure l'll find an endless supply of planets with good utopias. I might also have some dealings with King Yama of the Sanzu River, which is said to be a checkpoint where my past duties in life are determined.

I'll send a message to my acquaintances and friends on Earth that I left behind, and if anyone wants to, I'll send someone there to pick them up or drop them off. This journey is exhilarating, and it looks like it will continue endlessly into the future. As for travel, I'd like to visit a remote paradise, idly wandering about, breathing in the fragrant purple clouds of the narrow mountains, and leisurely wandering about.

This is another dimension. Well then, good day to all my relatives, friends, and acquaintances.
