December 31, 1936 — September 13, 2022

Kenneth John Harrington, lovingly known by his family as "Poppi", passed away on September 13th, 2022 at the age of 85, with his family by his side. Born on December 31st, 1936, he was raised by his mother Elizabeth and his father Francis, who he loved dearly. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Ann "Mum" Harrington who he lived with in Chester, NY, along with their five daughters, Kathleen (Scott) Smith, Jeanie (Roger) Ferretti, Annmarie (Chris) OConnell, Mary (Tim) Vazquez and Elizabeth "La La" Harrington and his sister Elizabeth Looney. He was predeceased by his sister JoanAnn Oliveri, and his brothers Joey, Jimmy, & Johnny Harrington.
The love Poppi had for his family cannot be understated. A family man through and through, he lived his life in service of his family. His grandchildren, William, Katherine, Peter, Erin, Joseph, and Danielle remember Poppi as incredibly loving, wise, and one of the most important people in their lives. He was a strong and dedicated firefighter who worked with the FDNY in the Bronx for 27 years. He took pride in his work, and was a hero to many. His daughters fondly remember calling him at his station, and when they did he would answer saying "Division 9, Fireman Harrington." Kenneth was a man of faith, regularly attending church on Sunday with his wife, Ann. An active, thoughtful member of the church, he was his granddaughter Erins Confirmation sponsor. A husband, father, and grandfather, there was nothing Kenneth cherished more than his family.
Visitation is on Sunday September 18 from 4 pm-7 pm at Flynns Funeral Home, 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY 10950. The funeral mass is on Monday September 19 at 11 am at St. Columba Church, 27 High Street, Chester, NY 10918. Christian burial to follow at St. Columba Cemetery, Chester, NY.
