John "Jack" F. Casey 4/4/21 Born on February 21, 1929 in Haverstraw, NY to parents Joseph and Nora (Murphy) Casey. After graduating from Haverstraw High School he enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean War. He served on the USS Juneau. Upon being honorably discharged he returned to his home town and was employed with Western Union as a lineman. Later changed jobs and began his career with Orange and Rockland Utilities where he worked in various overhead line and management positions until retirement. It was during those early years with Western Union he met and then married the love of his life Joan Knapp. Married for over 65 years they together raised their three children. As a young family they enjoyed time boating on the Hudson River, Camping throughout the New England States, as well as Fishing and Hunting. Upon their retirements, Jack and Joan became "Snowbirds", splitting their time between a country home near Cooperstown, NY and the beach near Bradenton, FL. In addition to playing golf together they traveled. Cruising the Caribbean Islands as well as Alaska. Jack was a PER and Honorary Life Member with Haverstraw BPOE #877 and a 3rd Degree Member of Haverstraw Knights of Columbus. Jack is survived by his wife Joan, Daughter Jill Lamarch (AL) Harriman, NY. Sons John (Doris) Garnerville, NY. Bill Casey Pearl River, NY. (7) Grandchildren and (2) great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his sister Helen Hubert, Ridgefield Park, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in John's name to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc. These can be arranged online at www.hospiceoforange.com. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021, at St. Peter's R.C. Church located at 115 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY 10927 at 10:00 AM Funeral arrangements and Cremation Care have been entrusted to Thomas & Brendan Flynn and the staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc.
