Edward Francis Patterson of Cornwall, New York, a retired New York City Police Officer, and a United States Marine, died March 13th, 2020, at home with his loving family by his side. He was 90 years old. The son of the late John and Margaret (O'Leary) Patterson, Edward was born on May 17, 1929, in New York, NY. Edward was a devoted husband to Katie during her illness with Alzheimer's disease. He was a fierce advocate throughout her illness and kept his promise to "love, honor and cherish" all the days of her life. His sense of humor and his love of a great story whether at his own expense or that of others knew no boundaries. Edward is predeceased by his devoted wife, Catherine (Katie) O'Connell, parents John and Margaret Patterson and sisters Mary Geoghegan (Pete) and Margaret (Peggy) Patterson, brother Matthew Patterson, son-in-law Perry Roy and grandson, Dustin Hendrickson. Edward is survived by his children: Edward Patterson Jr. (Caren) of Plano, TX, Denis Patterson of Rockwall, TX, Terry Patterson (Anne) of Fairfax VT, Margie Flynn (Tommy) of Monroe, NY, Jeanne Kassis (Art) of Bethlehem, PA and Cathryn Roy of Washingtonville, NY. Edward is also survived by his grandchildren: Kimberly, Aaron, Conor, John, Matthew, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Brendan, Patrick, Ryan, Shannon, Riley, Colin, Liam and John, 13 great-grandchildren, and his special niece, Peggy Hughes (Steve), along with numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021, during the hours of 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, located at 139 Stage Road, Monroe, NY. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 10:00 AM in St. Columba R.C. Church located at 27 High Street, Chester, New York 10918, the Rev. John Bonnici will officiate. (The family would like to thank Fr. John for the care and support you rendered to your parishioner and friend). Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edward's name to the Alzheimer's Association of the Hudson Valley, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-4060 would be appreciated by the family.
